Community Dinner and Dance with Woody and Marcia McKenzie

Historic Masonic Theatre and Masonic Amphitheatre510 Main StreetClifton Forge, VA24422 Map

BBQ DINNER AND COMMUNITY DANCE TO BE HELD IN THE WESTROCK ROOM. DINNER AT 6 PM AND DANCING TO BEGIN AT 7 PM.

Saturday, November 2 at 6pm
BBQ Dinner at 6pm in the Thomas P. Dean/Racey and Dean Underground Lounge and Café
Community Dance at 7PM in the Westrock Community Room.
Dinner and Dance: $10 Adult; $7 student and senior.
Sponsored by The John E. Hillert Family

Bring the whole family for a late afternoon of food and fun! First, we’ll enjoy a casual BBQ dinner in the Underground Lounge and Café, then we’ll head up to the Westrock Community room for a relaxed community dance.

Circles, squares, whole set and contra dances – some call an evening of these kinds of dances a “barn dance.” Others use the terms “hoedown,” “family dance,” or even “barnless dance.” We have settled on the phrase “community dance.” Whatever you call it, it’s a great way to connect with friends and family through music, using dancing as the medium.

You have no dance experience? No problem! Woody and Marcia McKenzie make the evening easy. Marcia will teach you everything you need to know. She will walk you through each arrangement, giving you a preview of how it works, and show you how to do the simple figures that will allow you to meet and greet a number of other folks during the course of each dance. It’s fun, and it brings you closer together as a group. And, it’s appropriate for all ages and levels of experience. If you can walk, you can do these dances!

Woody and Marcia McKenzie have been playing together since they were married in 1983. They met in the White Mountains of Arizona, where they were introduced through their music. Long-time residents of the New River Valley (Virginia), they moved to Lynchburg in the fall of 1998 and have been running community dances ever since.
Space is limited for our first community dance, so register today.

Nanny McPhee says, "When you need me, but do not want me, then I must stay. When you want me, but no longer need me, then I have to go."

About the film:
Widower Cedric Brown (Colin Firth) hires Nanny McPhee (Emma Thompson) to care for his seven rambunctious children, who have chased away all previous nannies. Taunted by Simon (Thomas Sangster) and his siblings, Nanny McPhee uses mystical powers to instill discipline. And when the children's great-aunt and benefactor, Lady Adelaide Stitch (Angela Lansbury), threatens to separate the kids, the family pulls together under the guidance of Nanny McPhee.

We are pleased to present an ongoing series of classic, family and popular films, shown in the beautifully restored John E. Hillert Auditorium.

Relive the music from one of the greatest bands in rock history.

About the film:
Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. Freddie defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound. They reach unparalleled success, but in an unexpected turn Freddie, surrounded by darker influences, shuns Queen in pursuit of his solo career. Having suffered greatly without the collaboration of Queen, Freddie manages to reunite with his bandmates just in time for Live Aid. While bravely facing a recent AIDS diagnosis, Freddie leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. Queen cements a legacy that continues to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day.

KRISKINDLMARKT looks and smells like a European Christmas village. Last year we welcomed more than 1500 guests and we've grown into a “can’t miss” event in the Alleghany Highlands!

Enjoy "The Mill" (our repurposed, unheated 100+ year old lumber mill behind the School) filled with laughter, lights, holiday scents & cheer, shopping & entertainment! German Father Christmas will make a visit! Live music throughout the event. Dress warmly.

ENTRY FEE: $2 cash admission; free for children 12 & younger. Dress warmly!

JUST ANNOUNCED: BIERGARTEN, Friday after shopping closes!

ARTISAN VENDORS: Wood-turned bowls, cutting boards, fresh greenery, hand-made sweaters, felted wool hats, bags & purses, blacksmith-forged items, soaps & lotions, pottery, antique tiles, knit & crochet arts, photography, painted art, jewelry, Christmas ornaments, candies & chocolate, decorative gourds, quiltings, designer wreaths, maple syrup & baked goods!

THE MILL CAFE & BAR: European-style breads & pastries, German beer & authentic Gluhwein (for ages 21+), mulled apple cider & cold beverages. Fabulous German food choices for your dining-in or take-out pleasure. The Cafe & The Gallery (upstairs) provides seating to diners.
