Join us downtown Tuesday, July 4, 2017 in Clifton Forge, VA (CFVA) for some of the most enthusiastic, community driven Independence Day celebration in the nation. The incredible spirit of small town CFVA in the Alleghany Highlands might make you rethink your big city getaway.
On July 4th, the celebration begins at 11 AM with our Stars and Stripes parade through historic downtown. We urge you to come out and enjoy the parade or even be in it. This is a small town USA celebration in the best sense of the word. Young and old join the fun, hop on your decorated bike, carry a flag or wear something red, white and blue and march or ride in the parade. At the conclusion of the parade everyone is invited to gather at Town Hall for a special ceremony honoring our Veterans.
Following a reading of excerpts from the Declaration of Independence at Town Hall , bagpipers will take the lead on a short walk to the Masonic Amphitheatre for an afternoon concert and a picnic lunch. Children can enjoy painting cardboard houses, getting their faces painted and the beautiful grounds of the Masonic Amphitheatre.
C&O Railway Heritage Center opens to the public at 6 PM, free of charge, for an evening of informal fun, food and festivities. Back by popular demand are the Ladies for Liberty singing trio followed by the 50 member Celebration Chorale presenting a Patriotic Cantata. This outstanding presentation will include a Retreat of the Colors. The miniature train at the Heritage Center will also be available to ride, for a small fee. An awesome fireworks display will take place at dusk to close out your Stars and Stripes Fourth of July Independence day celebration
