FEBRUARY 20 – MARCH 30, 2016

Saturday February, 20: Gallery Talk by Mr. Ripley at 3 pm. – Reception will follow. There is no charge. The public is invited.

Dramatic and colorful images of railroading “come to life” in this series of 20 x 30” mounted and framed photographs, all for sale, taken by a life-long observer and interpreter of the railroad scene. A guide sheet available at the exhibit provides detailed information about each photo.

The photographer says, “With my keen interest in history, combined with a love of the outdoors and regional geography, my style of photography is very much oriented towards presenting scenes of modern railroading in the context of history and tradition, and particularly illustrating the railroad’s evolving interaction with its environment. I feel this approach particularly suits the varied and beautiful geography of the eastern United States, defined by rivers, streams, mountains, and hills, large and small. I am particularly pleased to present these images in this lovely gallery in Clifton Forge, a location profoundly associated with the former Chesapeake and Ohio Railway.”
