Annual KRISKINDLMARKT (German Style Christmas Mart) in The Mill, Clifton Forge School of the Arts

55 Artists & Artisans: Wood turned bowls, cutting boards, fresh greenery, hand-made sweaters, felted alpaca hats, silk purses, hooked rugs, wall-hangings, blacksmith-forged items & jewelry, soaps & lotions, pottery, antiqued tiles, knit & crochet for infants, photography, decorative art, handmade silver, copper & beaded jewelry, carved eggshells, German wooden Christmas carvings, decorative gourds, quilted items, milk-painted wood decor, designer wreaths, brooms & brushes, coffees & seasonings, home-made biscotti, maple syrup & products, German, Irish & Scotch breads, pastries & cookies AND oh so much more!

Local Pottery Handmade jewelry Hand made winter hats

The Mill Cafe Bar will sell hot mulled apple cider, hot chocolate, gluhwein and German beer (for ages 21+), in addition to soft drinks & water. Close by, a decorating cookie station will offer children a selection of festive toppings for just-baked cookies.

Chef John Stallard (Stonebridge Catering, Lexington) will be offering a five-item menu of traditional German cuisine, for snacks, light lunches & hearty dinners at moderate prices, including: German Pretzels, Beef Goulash, Bavarian Bratwurst, Beer Brat, Chicken Paprika, Herb-Roasted Pork Rib Eye-Schaschlik (Shush-Lick), Egg noodles & Mushroom Sauce, Red Cabbage, Sauerkraut, German Style Potato Salad. The Cafe & The Gallery (upstairs) provides seating to diners. A small team of “frauhlein” helpers will assist diners to transport meals & drinks upstairs.
Delicious Desserts
Father Christmas will greet children on Saturday between 11 am and 1 pm. An assortment of live music will be featured throughout the two days by Stan Willenbring (guitar); Alleghany Mountain String Project (violins, cellos) and the debut of the newly-organized Brass Ensemble (auspices of Clifton Forge School of the Arts). Further details, performance dates and times will be announced.

Multiple raffles of artisan-made items from KRISKINDLMARKT vendors will be held throughout the two days. Raffle tickets will be sold at the Raffle Display in the Café area. Several items will be featured in a Silent Auction Fund-raiser; among them is a wooden chair hand-painted in a “snowman theme” donated by local artist Nancy Smith. Interested patrons may place bids for each item. The highest bidders will be announced at 4:30 pm on Saturday. More details on the raffle and silent auction will be announced soon.
