Thank you for your interest in the Alleghany Highlands Artisans Shops website.  By making Potterypurchases through this site, you are supporting entrepreneurs whose hand-made products reflect the talent and innovation native to the Alleghany Highlands of Virginia.

This webstore is part of the VISION 2025 Initiative – a community-based economic revitalization effort seeking to better local economic opportunities in the Alleghany Highlands of Virginia through combining local leadership, local assets, focused activities and targeted marketing.  The webstore is one of those focused activities.  Through it, community volunteers are creating a bridge to markets outside the specific region as well as an opportunity for the thousands of visitors to the region to purchase additional souvenirs from their trips.

Though there are many physical places to see artisans work in the region year round, including the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center and the Clifton Forge School of the Arts, the webstore creates a unique gallery that we hope you will enjoy viewing as you look at the items posted.

This collaborative webstore features beautiful, hand-made custom baskets made by employees of Jackson River Enterprises (JRE), our local non-profit organization that provides employment for people with short-term and long-term disabilities.  In addition, JRE manages packaging and shipping of items sold through this site, so purchases also support direct employment in related fields.
